A Closer Look – The Package

The Sandberg Mini Touchpad Keyboard comes in a nice flashy cardbox, which has an actual image of the keyboard. We find all the keyboard’s main features listed in a pleasant colourful way. We notice at the bottom left corner that the keyboard can also be used with a Playstation 3 or an XBOX360 video game console.

At the back side of the box we find a brief description of the keyboard’s features in various languages.

Once we opened the box, we saw that the keyboard is covered in a thick foam bag, that protects the product from damage.

Apart from the actual keyboard, inside the package we found 2 AAA batteries, a User Guide, the Warranty Certification and the USB receiver. It is nice that Sandberg included the batteries in the package, so the user can start using the keyboard right away.

A Closer Look – The Mini Touchpad Keyboard

Once we unpacked the keyboard, we found it out to be visually pleasing. The black and silver colour combinations are nice, with the buttons being white and having blue details for using with the Fn (Function) button. At the above picture you can take an idea of how thin the keyboard is. In general, we have to do with a very elegant keyboard.

The whole build feels solid. The keyboard is lightweight, but has the right weight so that it does not slide while using it. The buttons have the same style as the keyboards have on laptops and they do not require much force to press.

You do not have to worry about using a mouse with this keyboard. At the right side, there is a touchpad that playes the role of the mouse. Below we can find two buttons for left and right click. The touchpad is very useful to have, considering that many users will want to use the keyboard for their media PC in their living room. With the specific keyboard, you can fully control any PC.

There is also a practical on/off switch to turn the keyboard off when not using it. This way the user can save battery power.

Performance – Verdict

We had no problems getting the Sandberg Mini Touchpad Keyboard to work. It works out of the box, as no special drivers are required. The keyboard performed very well, as the buttons felt pleasant to our fingers and there was no lag or delay during usage, the typing was smooth and crisp. The hotkeys, which mainly are for volume control, came in very handy especially when watching a movie. Furthermore, the keyboard was comfortable to use from our living room, as its small dimensions and weight make it ideal for a media PC. The touchpad was also very functional and accurate. We would surely say that this is the way to go if you are planning on a media PC connected to your TV, as you have total control in one small wireless device. While it costs 60 euros across Europe, which is not considered a bargain really, it is absolutely worth the money thanks to the freedom of control it offers the user.

Thus, we would like to give the Sandberg Mini Touchpad Keyboard our Editor’s Choice Award, as it is a very handy product that does the job it promises without any problems.
