A Closer Look –
The Sandberg Wireless Lazer Mouse Pro comes in a fully transparent package allowing us to see the actual mouse. The package is very simple and contains the mouse, the wireless receiver and a quick user manual. However, there is no software included in the bundle, as it is stated that the device works instantly without the need of additional drivers or applications.
As you can see from the pictures, the receiver is tiny and will easily fit any USB slot without obstructing any other cables or components.
The mouse it self has a good build and has a neat black rubber finish. Apart from the two usual buttons, there is a middle scroll wheel that can be pressed and has a nice touch feel. At the left side of the mouse, we can also find two additional buttons, that can be really useful when browsing the internet for back and forward functions.
Finally, there is a small DPI button to adjust sensivity on the fly.
At the bottom side of the mouse we can find a comfortable casing that can hold the receiver, the battery pack casing and a nice surprise; there is an on/off button to switch the mouse off when not using the mouse for a long time, to help reserve battery power. This is a really cool feature.
Installation was painless; you just insert 2 AAA batteries in the mouse (not included), you plug the receiver in one USB port and the mouse works instantly. The responsiveness of the mouse is above average considering the price range and it really feels good at hand. We found the mouse to be very capable while gaming, as it enabled as to be in absolute control during a game session. Of course, as stated, it will work in all surfaces and you will not need any mouse pad.
If you are not satisfied with the accuracy and pointer speed, you can adjust it real time using the dpi button.
We really feel that a software CD should be included, in order for the user to be able to adjust the mouse and its buttons according to his needs, but this should really not be a problem to the overall experience. Anyhow, there is third-party software available to download if you need it.
Costing around 27,00€ across Europe, the Sandberg Wireless Lazer Mouse Pro is surely a mouse to consider when you are on a tight budget.
