Noiseblocker PL Series 120mm Fans Review

A Closer Look – Package and Accessories

The packaging of the Noiseblocker PL Series 120mm Fans is identical. As you can see from the image above, the boxes are black with white printing on them. We can see all the features and also the RPM of each model along with a nicely drawn schematic.

At the back side of the boxes we have the same situation with technical data printed out.

The fans are carefully packaged in a transparent casing that protects them from damage.

The BlackSilentPro Series comes with 2 length fan connector wires. One is 200mm for shorter applications and the second is 450mm+ mainly for connections in a full tower chassis.

The new developed mounting set incl. the “NB-Silentframe” with the complement rubber part and the long screws with knurled nuts for tool-free assembly is also included. It ensures a perfect mounting of the fan, while reducing vibrations. Furthermore a shiny Noiseblocker sticker is included.

A Closer Look – The Fans

All the Noiseblocker PL Series 120mm Fans are made of high-quality stable glass fibre-reinforced chassis in a classic design combined with anti-dust polycarbonate rotor.

All the fan models incorporate the nearly noiseless NB-NanoSLI bearing which guarantees nearly silent operation and long lifetime.

There is nearly no impulse noise due to the usage of the NB-EKAPlus Drive.

Overall, the build quality is of high-standards, as we have seen in all Noiseblocker products.

Test Setup and Procedures

We did not make the tests with the fans installed in a PC case or on a CPU heatsink, as many factors can alter airflow and temperature. Instead, all the measurements were done on a bench table with an air temperature of 22 degrees celsius, and with the fans operating at maximum voltage.

We used the following tools to measure airflow and sound levels:

  •    Kestrel 4500-Anemometer
  • TES1352H-soundmeter

So it is quite understandable that the test included:

  • Airflow test
  • Noise measurement
  • Price Comparison

Test Results

All of the fans delivered decent airflow, with the PLPS that functions at the most RPM achieving the best performance. It is obvious that these are three models and each one will cover different needs, balancing between noise and performance.

Noiseblocker’s PL fans remained very quiet during operation. Of course, the lower-RPM models were more silent than the ones with more RPM.

Not much to say here, all three fans have the same price.

Verdict

If you are looking for an inexpensive fan to efficiently and reliably cool your system, then you can surely pick one of the PL series fans. They provide good airflow, while being silent. Noiseblocker has a variety of choices here, PL-1 is the most quiet fan, the PL-2 balances between noise and performance, and the PLPS is designed for maximum airflow. Even the PLPS is considered silent. Given the fact that the fans have a solid build and design, we can guarantee that they are definitely worth the buy.

Pros

(+) Good airflow
(+) Not very loud
(+) Cheap

Cons

(-) None

Thus, we can surely award the Noiseblocker PL Series 120mm Fans fans our Value For Money Award.
