Logitech S220 2.1 Speakers Review

For gamers and music fans, computer speakers play an important part in their amusement. Today we will present you the review of Logitech S220 2.1 speakers.
A brief introduction about the company first.

Logitech was founded in 1981 in Switzerland and specializes in distributing a wide range of computer accessories, like mice, keyboards, web-cameras, speaker systems, laptop accessories and more. Generally, it is a company with good reputation in the computer world, because its products are of good quality.

Let’s take a look at the Logitech S220 2.1 PC Speaker System specs, taken from the Logitech’s website:

  • Configuration:        2.1
  • Total Power:           17 Watts
  • Satellite RMS Power: 4 Watts
  • Subwoofer RMS Power: 9 Watts
  • Remote Control:      Wired

A Closer Look

Logitech S220 comes in a brown package to protect it from damage during shipping.

The speakers and subwoofer are of compact size, so they can fit in any office.

Let’s also take a look at how they look from the back side. On the back side of the subwoofer, there is a volume adjust knob for adjusting the bass volume to suit your needs, and the 3.5mm jack for connecting the speakers.

There is also a wired control that allows you to connect headphones and a microphone, and of course adjust the volume. Pretty nice option, since you do not have to go at the back of your PC whenever you need to use a headset.

Sound Quality, Speaker Function and Verdict

Costing around 24 euros, the Logitech S220 sound system is a good deal. The system sounded a little better than we expected, taken its size and price into consideration. The sub woofer sounds crisp, and there is no distortion at high volume. Of course, do not expect the sound quality of more expensive models. The wired control is really helping, since you can connect any headset on it directly, and this can be done even with main unit switched off.
One of the sound system’s drawbacks is that the power chord is relatively small. Furthermore, it is uncomfortable that you cannot adjust the headset volume when the headset is plugged in. Additionally, the Logitech S220 speakers are extremely light so it is likely that they will fall from the desk if the user is not careful.

Pros

(+) Good price
(+) Sound quality above average for category
(+) Wired control and connectivity

Cons

(-) Speakers extremely light, feel cheap
(-) Volume knob not functioning when headset is plugged in
(-) Power chord small

Thus, we give the Logitech S220 2.1 a rating of 7.5/10 and our value for money award.
