A Closer Look – Package and Contents
The Lian Li PC-P80 came to us in a gigantic box, which offers maximum protection during shipment. On it we find a photo of the actual case and a brief description of its main characteristics.
At the back side we find small pictures of the case’s key characteristics.
Inside the package we find all the usefull accessories, screws, antivibration kit and generally everything we need to set up our case.
A Closer Look – Exterior
Here is what the Lian Li PC-P80 looks like from the front. We have to do with a well built aluminium made PC case.
The three impresive, especially in dark conditions, 140mm fans insert enough airflow in the case to keep the system cool.
The front panel lock is also welcome as it prevents damage or theft during your lan games.
We notice that there is also a ventilation system at the top of the PC case.
The ventilation system does ea good job extracting the hot air outside the system with the help of a 140mm fan.
The power and reset buttons are located at the top side of the box, with a front panel lying near it
At the front side there is also a fan controller to control the 3 140mm fans from maximum RPM to silent mode. We found out that the fans are quite noisy anyway The PC-P80 offers an ergonomic panel on top, including 1 e-SATA, 4 USB, 1 Firewire, and 2 audio connectors.
The rear side of the case feels neat and well made. It is easy to distinguish the impressive 10 PCI slot space.
A Closer Look – Interior
At the above pictures we see the inodized aluminium frame of the Lian Li PC-P80 with the side panels taken off. Generally the chassis has a nice finish and there are no flaws in the structure of the case.
Behind the front panel we find the 3 140mm fans, which assist a lot in inducing cold air inside the system. There is also a washable air filter, to prevent dust from going inside the system.
At the back of the box we find a 12cm rear Lian-Li fan, which is not illuminated.
A middle aluminium bracket is included, that is used to hold lengthy cards with stability.
We can notice the 10 PCI slot space. We doubt if anyone will use all these PCI’s, but it is surely a nice thing to know that everything will fit inside the case. Lian Li have also included 2 holes to be used for watercooling.
Even after using big after-market coolers for our GTX480 and some accessories, like the big Lian Li BS-08 PCI Cooler, we found out that there is plenty of space inside the PC-P80. Of course, if you use a modular PSU it is a plus, as you can save some extra space.
We were absolutely satisfied with the Lian Li PC-P80. It is a well made aluminium case, which is relatively light to carry due to the material’s natyre, with impressive space that can hold all your PCI cards, hard disks and drives. Another plus is that due to the 3 large fans at the front, the system runs in a low temperature compared to fanless PC cases. Costing around 300 euros, for sure is not considered cheap, but it offers everything you could expect from a PC case.
(+) Full aluminium structure
(+) 10 PCI slots
(+) Low system temperature due to effective cooling
Thus, we give the Lian Li PC-P80 a rating of 9.5/10 and our Editor’s Choice Award.
