In today’s review we will take a look at the Gelid Wing 12PL 120 mm fan.
GELID Solutions Ltd. is a Hong Kong based company with Swiss Management and founded in 2008 by Gebhard SCHERRER and VC TRAN. Both have worked in the PC Cooling industry for a number of years and successfully built up an IT company with their expertise.
GELID designs and manufactures packaging, thermal solutions, CPU coolers, fans, and other computer hardware for both gamers and silent enthusiasts and for international OEM and ODM customers.

The WING 12 PL features a unique Nanoflux bearing which ensures a friction-free and silent operation. Thanks to the clever design and magnetic bearing the impeller can be detached for an easy cleaning. Additionally fan blade winglets were designed to achieve larger airflow and greater static pressure. Thank to GELID’s Nanoflux Bearing the impeller can be detached and the fan blades can be cleaned easily.
It includes a PWM Control which keeps the fan silent if no additional cooling is necessary but increases the fan speed whenever additional cooling is required. To give the fans a unique color, a blue LED light is embedded into the 120mm blue WING 12 PL fan.

you can find the fan’s specifications and features. In the package you will also find 4 mounting screws, 4 anti-vibration mounting rubber pads as well as a Gelid sticker.

The impeller is detachable for easy washing. The fan incorporates Nanoflux bearing, which is a self-lubricated bearing which promises silent operation as it eliminates frictions, with extended longevity.
Test Setup and Procedures
To measure the fan’s efficiency we connected it to Nofan’s Fanless 400W PSU to make sure that no additional noise from the PSU fan will be generated. Afterwards, we measured tha fan’s airflow in CFM and the noise generated in max RPM using the following tools:
- Kestrel 4500 Anemometer
- TES1352H 130dB Programmable Sound Level DB Meter

Test Results and Verdict
As you can see, Gelid Wing 12PL did very well in our tests. It delivered a massive amount of air while keeping noise down to low levels. Even at maximum RPM, the fan was barely audible. Note that all tests were done with direct connection to the PSU, so no PWM was utilized. In combination with the PWM mode, the fan will be practically silent. Another point to consider is the utilization of advanced Nanoflux bearing which surely adds points to the fan’s overall presence.
Overall, Gelid has offered a very capable fan at a reasonable price which achieves great performance with quiet operation and we see no reason not to prefer it against other fans out in the market.
