140mm Fan Roundup

Reviews > 140mm Fan Roundup

01. Introduction

Over the years, using fans of various sizes and specifications has been the most popular way to efficiently cool the system, apart from watercooling which is of course more expensive. One of the most used fan sizes is the 140mm fans, which are used either on a CPU heatsink or mounted inside the PC case.

Generally speaking, a fan is 'judged' by two factors:

  • Airflow and Cooling Efficiency
  • Noise Levels

It is well known that the more powerful the fan will be, the more noisy it will be. However, there are companies that specialise in making high-performance low-noise cooling fans by using sophisticated technology. These fans have the ability to efficiently reduce the temperature of a PC system, while being quiet enough so that their operation will not disturb the user. Of course, the noise levels produced are related to the RPM that the fan operates, with some fans having the option to reduce or increase their RPM on the user's will, according to the system's cooling needs.

The fan models that took part in the contest are:

  • Noiseblocker BlackSilentPro PK2
  • Noiseblocker BlackSilentPro PK3
  • Enermax Apollish Vegas
