So basically we have to do with two similar models of 120mm fans, their main difference is that the Trio is aimed for more silent operation, while the Duo is aimed for performance.

A Closer Look – T.B. Vegas Duo

The T.B. Vegas Duo came in a colourful transparent box on which we can find the fan’s main features. There is also a reference to the fan’s led modes, which are many.

At the back of the box there is a detailed report of the fan’s specs and features, as well as the fan’s technology and bearing system.

The frame’s main colour is black with the blades being transparent to have a glamorous led effect. Overall construction is clean and solid. The sleeve for the cable is a good addition and protects it from damage. Furthermore, there is a LED mode button to switch between LED modes. We have to admit that the fan looked impressive at night. The Turbine Blades ensure high-pressure airflow, and they are also detachable for easy cleaning, which surely is handy to remove dust from the fan. There is also a low-high RPM knob to adjust the fan’s RPM real-time.

Inside the package you will also find a power adapter with four mounting screws. Anti-vibration mounting kits are also included.

03. A Closer Look – T.B. Vegas Trio

The fan is very well packed and secured  in a colourful plastic box with transparent window which allows you to see it before buying it. Similarly to the Duo, there is a brief report on the fan’s main features.

At the back side of the box there is a detailed description of the fan’s specs and features. There are a total of 14 LED combinations which can be changed using the LED button. There is also a schematic demonstrating the fan’s bearing anatomy.

Following it’s brother’s quality standards, we have to do with a sturdy well built fan. The blades are also transparent and detachable to make cleaning easier. Generally this fan follows the same pattern as the Duo, the only difference is that it operates at lower RPM. There is also a low-high RPM knob to adjust the fan’s RPM real-time.

Inside the package you will also find four screws and a power adapter. Anti-vibration mounting kits are also included.

Test Setup and Procedures

We did not make the tests with the fans installed in a PC case or on a CPU heatsink, as many factors can alter airflow and temperature. Instead, all the measurements were done on a bench table with an air temperature of 22 degrees celsius, and with the fans operating at maximum voltage.

We used the following tools to measure airflow and sound levels:

  •    Kestrel 4500-Anemometer
  •  TES1352H-soundmeter

So it is quite understandable that the test included:

  • Airflow test
  • Noise measurement
  • Price Comparison

Test Results

The T.B. Duo delivered more airlflow mainly due to its higher RPM operation. Both airflows are considered average.

During our noise tests, the Trio was the most quiet of the two fans, and this is logical considering its lower RPM setting. It is true though that both Enermax T.B. Vegas Duo and T.B. Vegas Trio are considered silent and they do not annoy with their operation.

Both Enermax T.B. Vegas Duo and T.B. Vegas Trio are of the same price range and are considered reasonably priced for what they offer.

Verdict

Both Enermax T.B. Vegas Duo and T.B. Vegas Trio are very quiet and unique looking. They have exceeded our expectations in the problem of noise, as they are silent during operation, especially if you set the RPM to low setting. The build quality of the fans is top notch, and  comes with standard accessories you’ll need. They have medium air flow but the real advantage is that they ar extremely quiet. When we say silent, we mean SILENT. The design is also impressive and tops in dark conditions, due to the LED combinations. The manual RPM control is also a big plus. We would not consider them budget category, but they are both really worth the money.

Pros

(+) Solid build quality
(+) Silent
(+) Impressive design
(+) RPM adjuster

Cons

(-) Medium airflow
